Whitney Plantation

Today we journeyed to the Whitney Plantation and walked around the museum as well as toured the plantation. Each of us experienced different emotions and opened our minds to the various experiences to the slaves who worked in the extreme heat for 16-18 hours each day. Some thoughts of our trip include:

The harsh heat gave much appreciation for air conditioning and also made many of us have to think about the difference between what we learned in school and being subjected to the conditions enslaved people were in the past.

We hope to return home and share what we’ve learned with our community in hopes of giving others a better understanding.
